I love this quote
And I believe wholeheartedly in it, and in the power of food to help us heal, and live a super life.....so this post may shock but will probably have you jumping with glee by the end.
I want to let you in on a little secret...but shhhhh...this is between you and me...ok??
I do work hard to create systems and tools to live life with with tonnes of sparkle for me personally, and in the work that I do.
But, it's a process - the food, the lifestyle options, the exercise.
I experiment before I settle...until it is time to adjust and change again.
Life for most of us is NOT always 100% clean and green. Some of you reading this may not have the option of straying from a particularly strict dietary path due to health issues. But for the most of us we can usually work on about 80% really really good, and 20% to play with. In doing this we usually don't feel as though we are depriving ourselves.
White flour, white sugar and processed foods make me feel really crappy so I choose wisely. We are so spoilt for choice when it comes to food we don't have to settle for anything less than what is going to make us feel great.
It happened that I was experimenting with some food the other day - cookies.
If there was a geiger counter for cookies that were nutritionally fab, these would be somewhat towards the not-so-great-end...more a great for the soul and taste bud cookie.
And this is what I do...I take a recipe, cook it, and change it to make it a better version of its former self.
I happened to take these into class to share with my students (because I certainly don't want them sitting in MY cookie jar...they were nibble-sized bits, so I was STILL taking care of their health), and there was an OVERWHELMING demand for the recipe.
Now I thought....who am I to deny you all the pleasure of cooking these morsels yourself? I am encouraging you to make choices, and these posts are for people just like me...mostly good, but sometime gastronomic sinners.
I would like to introduce you to a new segment that may pop into your inboxes occasionally.......
This will be black market stuff!
I don't want to ruin my clean, green rep, but as I am ALL about balance and I want to present a truly authentic version of me to you, occasionally there will be some behind-the-scenes recipes.
To alleviate my anxiety in sharing something that is not completely true to my kale and green smoothie ethos, I am just thinking of these as a "before makeover" product....and sometimes that's okay.
So popping into your inboxes in the next day or two will be a recipe for Oat Pecan Cookies. ( for those of you who are reading this and not on my email list, pop onto the Home page of this website and enter your email address and you will receive regular newsletters with these morsels attached!)
But shhhhh...it's not from me ok?
(I'm a Gemini, so think of these posts coming from my evil twin)
Until next time
